This module provides control of an iPort FS-4, FS-5, IW-4 or IW-5 in-wall music system via RS-232. The iPort provides a docking station for an Apple iPod, iPod Mini, iPod Photo or iPod Nano. From this docking station, audio and/or video can be inserted into a distribution system, and control of the iPod can be provided from the Crestron touchpanel.
Available controls include basic transport of the iPod, the ability to browse through the music library (with back function), shuffle and repeat commands, and currenty playing song information such as title, artist, album, elapsed and total time, and a progress bar. An example TPS-4500 (800x600) touchpanel file, styled in the spirit of iTunes, is included.
UTF-8 encoded characters in song information are simplified into ASCII by the module. Support is provided for audiobooks and podcasts.
The iPort IW-4, IW-5, FS-4, and FS-5 support RS-232 communication "out of the box" and are supported by our module.
The iPort IW-2, IW-3, and FS-3 can be controlled by RS-232 if you purchase the optional card. This module supports these models if the optional card is purchased.
The iPort IW-1, FS-1 and FS-2 do not support RS-232 communcation and cannot be used with this module.
Important Note: Version 6 of the module requires mainboard firmware version 1.30 or greater for in-wall iPorts and and mainboard fimware version 1.05 or greater for free-standing iPorts. Version 6 of the module also requires the "new RS232 card with Authentication IC". Users with older versions of the iPort firmware should contact ControlWorks to obtain Version 4 of the module or contact iPort for firmware upgrade information.
